10 Most Popular Projects Presented in June 2012

This first summer month of 2012 brought with it a variety of fascinating projects on Freshome. Time to see the best of the best, according to your Facebook shares. #1.  Resorts are very popular on Freshome and we love to feed your appetite for holiday inspiration! Nestled in one of the largest lagoons in the scenic Maldives, Soneva Gili by Six Senses (the most popular project this month) offers a large degree of comfort in its over-sized villas, strongly connected to the landscape. The retreat consists of 45 sumptuous over-water villas, each with stunning views.

#2. Provided that the inhabitant is not "burdened" with lots of household belongings, this small, 21 square-meter apartment is just perfect. It is incredible how the designers managed to turn such a small space into an airy and comfortable crib. A wonderful example of Swedish design, this project is characterized by tastefulness and originality.

#3. Surrounded by perfect beaches, lush tropical vegetation and an exotic reef just few meters away from the shore, Lily Beach Resort & Spa is said to be the pioneer of the "affordable luxury" concept. Also known as the first 5 star All-Inclusive Platinum Plan Resort in the Maldives, the retreat combines a favorable location with excellent facilities and services.

#4. Named the Marks/Caride Residence, this contemporary Manhattan living space uses the creative spirit of both the team at I-Beam Architecture And Design and the couple living here – Melissa Marks and Vicente Caride. The 20,000 Lego bricks shaping the staircase make this place original and captivating.

#5. Seeing this charming small apartment especially developed for the students in Sweden makes one reconsider the idea of college dorms. With a total living area of 39 square meters, the apartment is situated in a lovely building from the late 1800s and features beautiful woodwork, tall paned windows and black electrical outlets, reminiscent of the area's historical background.

#6. A piece of Amsterdam's busy Schiphol airport was refreshed by Dutch designers Tjep – the Schiphol Departure Lounge 4 now showcases a space where social interaction is encouraged and the lack of plane views was dimmed with the help of stylized plane benches. #7. If you are looking for some apartment design inspiration, have a look at this exuberant modern penthouse located downtown Stockholm, Sweden. The duplex has a living area of 101 square meters and a total of four rooms. Wood is the defining element for the entire project, adding warmth and elegance while strongly contrasting the white walls.

#8. Located in a Chelsea brownstone landmark townhouse, these splendid residential spaces fluctuate between outside and inside. The place was renovated for a fashion designer in search of a balanced composition of textures, colors and light and was designed by Archi-Tectonics.

#9. We received some photos of an apartment in Belgrade, Serbia. designed by one of our readers, Dragana Lazovic. As our reader explained, when she bought it, it was completely in ruins and the conversion process lasted for two months. By the looks of things, the apartment was highly appreciated, making this list at number nine.

#10. This original looking four room apartment in Stockholm, Sweden boasts 182 square meters of raw inspiration! Centered around an open plan living and dining space, with an impressive ceiling height of four meters, the loft combines a rustic charm with state-of-the-art contemporary additions.
